Assam Government has set up a Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on 14 January 2019. The GoM will recommend measures for the protection of rights of existing tribal communities as well as to decide on the benefits to be given to new Scheduled Tribes. The GoM was formed after the introduction of the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order on 9 January 2019.
