The long standing demand of the people of Manipur, Tripura and South Assam was fulfilled by inauguration of special trains Jan Shatabdi connecting Agartala – Jiribam - Agartala. The inaugural special trains were flagged off from Agartala and Jiribam railway stations simultaneously. The priority that the Prime Minister accords to the North eastern states is evident from the fact that budgetary allocations to the North Eastern states have nearly doubled in the last 7 years Rs. 36,107.56 crore in 2014-2015, to Rs. 68,020 crore in 2020-2021. Additional Information Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, was l aunched from New Delhi Railway Station on February 15 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . Vande Bharat Express, India’s first semi-high speed train , runs between Varanasi and New Delhi . The train was produced locally at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai in 18 months. It can run up to a maximum speed of 160 km per hour . The semi-high speed train is considered a successor to the Shatabdi Express and will eventually replace the 30-year-old passenger train for intercity travel. The train commenced its commercial run on 17 February 2019 . 2nd Vande Bharat Express runs between New Delhi- Katra .
