Hima Das is an Indian sprint runner who was appointed as the Sports Ambassador of Assam in September 2018. She is the first-ever Sports Ambassador of Assam. The announcement was made by Sarbananda Sonowal, the Chief Minister of Assam, after Hima Das won the 400 m final at the World U-20 Championships 2018 on 12 July 2018. She is the first Indian athlete to have won a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championship. With a timing of 50.79 seconds that she achieved at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, she holds the current Indian National Record for 400 meters.
