How many districts are there in Assam?

There are 35 districts in Assam. On September 8th Assam be declared as India's first river island district today, as Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal, who represents the Majuli assembly seat formally upgraded Majuli to a district from sub-division, making it the 35th district in the state. Majuli covers an area of around 340 miles and is one of the prime tourist destinations of North East.
